2023 National Golden Gavel Tickets On Sale Now
Each year, young lawyers test their public speaking skills and comedic genius at Golden Gavel competitions nationwide. The winners of each state and territory competition face off at the National Golden Gavel, to prove that an ounce of wit is worth a pound of argument. This year, the Law Society of NSW will host this prestigious event on Friday 24 November. Law Society Council election results
The following members were declared elected as Councillors of The Law Society of New South Wales by the Company Secretary, each for a three-year term at the Annual General Meeting on 26 October 2023.

Trading names to continue to be displayed for a further two years
The Australian Business Register stopped collecting or updating trading names on 28 May 2012. Transitional arrangements to allow the business community time to register business names were due to expire on 1 November 2023. The A New Tax System (Australian Business Number) Amendment (Display of Trading Names) Regulations 2023 was made on 26 October 2023 and amends the A New Tax System (Australian Business Number) Regulations 2020 to allow trading names to continue to be displayed on the Australian Business Register until 1 November 2025. Retirement of the Hon. Justice Timothy Moore
Justice Moore will be retiring as a Judge of the Land and Environment Court of NSW and his final judgment will be delivered on Friday, 3 November 2023 at 4.15PM in Court 12A of the Land and Environment Court. Members are invited to attend. Registration is not required. The ceremony will be livestreamed with the link being posted on the Land and Environment Court court list.
