Submission of the week: Claim Farming Practices Prohibition Bill 2025 The Claim Farming Practices Prohibition Bill 2025 was passed by NSW Parliament on 28 March. The legislation prohibits a person from contacting someone to solicit claims in certain circumstances and buying or selling claims arising under the Civil Liability Act 2002. The Law Society wrote a submission on a prior consultation draft of the Bill, seeking the appropriate protection of vulnerable cohorts that may be exposed to claim farming while ensuring legitimate referral practices in our profession remain unaffected. We’re pleased the Bill reflects some of this feedback. To read our submissions, please see our Policy Submissions 2025 page.
