The Gageler High Court commences

Today marks the beginning of the Gageler High Court with the swearing in this morning of Justice Stephen Gageler AC as the fourteenth Chief Justice of Australia. Justice Gageler ascends to the highest judicial office in the nation after a remarkable career as an advocate and jurist. Launch date for NCAT's new Online Service
The NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT) will launch its new Online Service for the Consumer and Commercial Division on 20 November 2023.
The new NCAT Online Service will:
- Expand the types of online forms available
- Enable parties to lodge requests and supporting documentation
- Allow forms to be saved as drafts, and
- Introduce bulk payments.

36th AUSIT National Conference
The Australian Institute of Interpreters and Translators invites lawyers to a CPD event on working with interpreters in courts and tribunals. The keynote speaker is the Honourable Justice Kunc of the Supreme Court of NSW followed by a roundtable. The CPD is part of AUSIT's National Conference. Practice Note SC CL 12
Proceedings under the Crimes (High Risk Offenders) Act 2006, the Terrorism (High Risk Offenders) Act 2017, Mental Health & Cognitive Impairment Forensic Provisions Act 2020 and Division 105A of the Criminal Code Act 1995 (Cth), Practice Note SC CL 12 will commence on 3 November 2023. The new Practice Note sets out the procedure for the case management of matters brought under various legislation relating to high-risk offenders and where supervision orders are sought.
