First Home Buyer Legislation Amendment Bill 2023
The Bill, which was introduced in the Legislative Assembly on 23 May 2023, closes access to the First Home Buyer Choice (property tax) scheme from 1 July 2023, subject to limited exceptions. The Bill also increases the thresholds under the First Home Buyer Assistance Scheme from 1 July 2023. Various residence requirements under the Duties Act 1997 are also to be amended to require a person to reside in a home as the person’s principal place of residence for a continuous period of at least 12 months to be eligible for a duty exemption or concession.
