Farewell ceremony for Justice Hallen
Justice Phillip Hallen will shortly retire from the Court after 13 years of service, including as an Associate Judge. His Honour's last sitting will be on Friday 30 June in Court 12D of the Queens Square Law Courts complex at 9:15am. Members of the profession are invited to attend. The Court has also made available a YouTube link where the event will be livestreamed.
Appointments of Messrs Scott Nixon SC and Anthony McGrath SC
Messrs Scott Nixon SC and Anthony McGrath SC have been appointed to the Supreme Court of New South Wales, both to sit in the Equity Division. 
Formal ceremonies to mark these occasions will be held in Banco Court on level 13, as follows: 
  • Nixon SC -Tuesday 8 August 2023 at 9.15am.
  • McGrath SC - Tuesday 15 August 2023 at 9.15am.
The ceremonies will also be livestreamed with the link being posted on the Supreme Court website prior to each ceremony.
Notice Inviting Claims Against Legal Practitioners Fidelity Fund
The Council of The Law Society of New South Wales invites any person who has suffered pecuniary loss because of default by the law practice Turner Coulson Immigration Lawyers, arising from the conduct of an associate of that law practice, Mr Stewart Coulson, to make a claim against the Legal Practitioners Fidelity Fund. The Attorney General is seeking applications from qualified persons for appointment to the following roles within the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal:
  • A part-time (sessional) Principal Member; and
  • Part-time (sessional) Senior Members.
Applicants for these roles must be lawyers of at least seven years’ standing. Learn more.

Launch of new ATO Charter 26 June 2023
The Australian Taxation Office has launched the new ATO Charter today. The Charter (formerly named the Taxpayers’ Charter) incorporates feedback provided during the Taxpayers’ Charter Review. The ATO Charter and outcomes of the Review will be available here.
