2018 Rural Conference and Annual Members Dinner
The Law Society’s Annual Members Dinner on Thursday 25 October is an opportunity to thank all who have contributed to the work of the Law Society over the course of the year.
All members are invited to the dinner with our guest speaker, The Honourable Justice Stephen Gageler AC, at Doltone House Hyde Park, Sydney.
We will also honour the achievements of solicitors who have practised law for 50 years and will announce the recipient of the 2018 President's Medal, recognising their significant personal and professional contributions to the betterment of law and justice in the community.
The next day many of us will reconvene for the 2018 Rural Issues Conference at Parliament House, Sydney.
The Rural Issues Conference has for many years brought together a diverse range of regional law practitioners from our regional law societies, many of them located outside the metropolitan area.
This year’s conference will feature an array of prominent speakers on a diverse selection of topics, including the regulation of water, renewable energy, recruitment and succession in regional law firms, criminal law, superannuation and Crown Land reform.
The annual Rural Issues Conference also provides an opportunity to mark and celebrate the enormous contributions made by solicitors to regional and rural communities throughout the state. Regional solicitors facilitate a significant amount of investment and business opportunities in regional economies; they employ local people, support social enterprise and assist individuals and businesses to properly manage their affairs.
As well as being a unique networking opportunity, practitioners who attend this one-day conference can claim one CPD unit for each hour of instruction.
