Vicarious traumatic stress

Legal practitioners are frequently exposed to potentially traumatic material as part of their work - this can be experienced indirectly or vicariously; for example, through work with traumatised clients and review of distressing case material.
In this session, clinical psychologist Dr Adrian Allen explains the nature of vicarious traumatic stress including how to recognise the signs and symptoms of it. Dr Allen also provides practical strategies to help maintain and promote positive mental wellbeing.
