One of the Law Society President’s priorities this year is to raise awareness of neurodiversity. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a prevalent mental health condition that typically arises in childhood and often continues into adulthood. Despite its prevalence and impacts, ADHD continues to be widely misunderstood and often misdiagnosed.

In this webcast, Professor Mark Bellgrove will discuss the symptoms and epidemiology of ADHD across the lifespan and highlight key differences between children and adults. In explaining the cognitive, pharmacological and neurobiological theories of ADHD, Prof Bellgrove will identify which features of cognition in ADHD may be advantageous.

Prof Bellgrove will also speak to the recent work of the Australian ADHD Professionals Association (AADPA) in raising awareness of ADHD and reducing stigma associated with ADHD.
