The Early Career Lawyer of the Year Award recognises the service of an early career lawyer to the legal profession and community.

Assessment Criteria: In 800 words or less, please answer the following, noting the weighting of each question.

  • What outstanding contribution has the nominee made to the legal profession or the community. (50 per cent)
  • How does the nominee demonstrate exceptional legal skills, professionalism, and ethical conduct in their practice as an early career lawyer. (25 per cent)
  • Specific examples of cases, projects, or initiatives the nominee has undertaken that showcases their dedication to advancing justice, advocacy, or community service. (25 per cent)

Eligibility

Nominations for this award are open to individuals who:

  • hold a current NSW practising certificate; and
  • are in their first five years of practice or under the age of 36

Judging Panel

This award will be judged by the Law Society and the NSW Young Lawyers President. 

Key dates

  • Nominations open Monday 2 September
