It’s time to register your 2020-2021 Scheme status online
|
Applications for registration of participation in, or exemption from, the 2020-21 Scheme year are now open. All law practices with legal practitioners who are also Law Society Solicitor Members or Life Members would have now received an email, addressed to their Scheme Co-ordinator principal, with a link to the online Scheme Portal. SIRA’s Dispute Resolution Services DX 10 SYDNEY Mail Service closing
From 1 December 2020, legal representatives will no longer be able to send correspondence to DRS via DX 10 SYDNEY. Any correspondence received via DX 10 SYDNEY will be returned to sender. In accordance with the Motor Accident Electronic Dispute Management System Online User Protocol, legal representatives are required to lodge, respond to and communicate with DRS through the Legal Portal. Any general correspondence, not related to a dispute, should be sent via email to drsenquiries@sira.nsw.gov.au.

Legal Aid NSW DX account decommissioned
Legal Aid NSW has determined we will no longer use DX mail to receive or send documents. This will be effective from 30 November 2020.
Legal Aid NSW will be utilising Australia Post and its courier service StarTrack for all mail services. The transition to Australia Post is expected to be complete by the end of 2020.

The EAGP extended hours pilot at the MRRC
Solicitors should be aware that the pilot at the MRRC has been extended, with no end date specified at this time. The aim of the pilot is to extend the hours of operations of the EAGP studio at the MRRC to between 8:00am and 6:00pm to give legal practitioners time outside of court hours to conduct mandatory case conferences.

District Court Silk Bows ceremony
The District Court’s second Silk Bows ceremony will be held by the Court on Tuesday 27 October 2020 (for the remaining 13 silks). Please note social distancing rules are to be observed at all times.
