At the Law Society of NSW, we take seriously the importance of providing ongoing learning and development opportunities for our members. So, in a year that has brought disruption on so many levels, I am pleased that the Law Society has been able to take the ‘business as usual’ approach in transitioning our CPD programs, Thought Leadership Series, FLIP Buzzwords and other important events, including our recent Specialist Accreditation Week, into online events. Applications to register your status for the 2020-21 Scheme period can still be made
|
The 2020-21 Scheme period commenced 22 November 2020, however, any principal of a law practice who has not yet made an application can do so via the online Scheme Portal. Read more here. |

Specialist CPD requirements
|
In the extraordinary circumstances of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Specialist Accreditation Board of the Law Society of NSW understands that Accredited Specialists may need to complete more than five of their CPD units through private study of audio/visual material. This means that for the 2020-21 CPD year, the Specialist Board will not be enforcing the five-unit cap on private study of audio/visual material as set out in the Information for Accredited Specialists. All other CPD renewal requirements must be satisfied unless an exemption or extension of time is granted. |

From 30 November 2020, the SIRA Dispute Resolution Service will transition all Assessment Conferences for CTP insurance disputes from Skype to Microsoft Teams.
