Being part of a community of more than 32,000 members for the past 13 years has been a rich and rewarding part of my career, especially so over the past few years. 

Over the past month, I have watched in awe as the Law Society Registry has been in full swing, processing tens of thousands of practising certificate and membership applications. Special Sitting Arrangements during the Local Court Annual Conference
Please note that there will now be three Acting Magistrates rostered at Parramatta Local Court to determine bail for adults who remain in custody in the metropolitan area, and to consider any urgent applications for Apprehended Violence Orders that are lodged statewide.
Practising certificate renewal reminder to practitioners
To engage in legal practice after 30 June 2022, you must hold a practising certificate. If you have not yet lodged your renewal application, please do so here. The Legal Profession Uniform Law does not permit the Law Society to accept practising certificate renewal applications submitted after 30 June 2022. Read more. 
Composition of the Law Society Council 
As members may be aware, under the constitution of The Law Society of New South Wales, the Law Society Council is required to review the composition of the Council this year as to whether Council Reserved Positions adequately reflect the composition of the Solicitor Membership of the Law Society. In addition to this review, Council has decided to undertake a broader review of the structure of the Council to determine what, if any, changes could be made to improve governance outcomes. Specialist Accreditation Conference 2022
Early bird registration for this years Specialist Accreditation Conference closes on 31 May. NSW Young Lawyers Golden Gavel
This incredibly entertaining event was held last Friday morning at the Fullerton Hotel and attended by almost 400 legal professionals. A big congratulations to this year's winner, Emma Wei, who will now represent NSW at the National Golden Gavel. A further congratulations to the Sparke Helmore People’s Choice award winner Bailey Neate.
