Supporting our members in the practice of law, now and in the future |
This time 12 months ago, all of us were coming to terms with the harsh realities of the global COVID-19 pandemic as the first of many dramatic measures were announced by the federal government - the closure of international borders to all non-citizens and non-residents, the requirement for all returning overseas travellers to self-isolate for 14 days and a 100-person cap on public gatherings. It was the beginning of a year of immense challenges, constant change and great uncertainty.
Around this time, we developed our COVID-19 portal, distributed the first of many “COVID-19 Updates” to keep you informed, moved our CPD and events program online and announced a one-time reduction in membership fees: all measures designed to support you during the immediate crisis.
While vaccinations are rolling out around the country, it’s clear we will be living with COVID-19 for some time. That means it’s important we continue to support you in the practise of law, now and in the future.
With practising certificate (PC) and membership renewals on the horizon, it’s timely that I provide you with some important updates on your 2021/22 fees. First, our 2021/22 membership fees will revert to the 2019 price of $400 (excl. GST). This will ensure we can continue to provide membership benefits, services and resources of value to the profession.
Next, in a new development, I would like to let you know that we have partnered with Buy Now Pay Later provider, humm, and can now offer an alternative payment option for your 2021/22 PC and membership fees.
Members can opt to pay PC and membership fees as a series of instalments, over time, with no interest – either as five fortnightly or 10 weekly repayments. If you do want to take advantage of the new Buy Now Pay Later option, you can sign up for a humm account now, in readiness for when PC and membership renewals open.
In the meantime, keep an eye on your inbox as we will be emailing you with further information about your membership and the new payment option, later this week. And we look forward to updating you on PC fees in due course.
