To engage in legal practice after 30 June 2021, you must hold a practising certificate. If you have not yet lodged your renewal application, please do so here. The Legal Profession Uniform Law does not permit the Law Society to accept practising certificate renewal applications submitted after 30 June 2021. Read more.

AIFS research on family law parenting orders
The Australian Institute of Family Studies (AIFS) has been commissioned by Australia’s National Research Organisation for Women’s Safety (ANROWS) to undertake research on compliance with and enforcement of family law parenting orders. The research includes a survey of family law professionals which is open to solicitors, barristers and judicial officers, as well as non-legal professionals. Registered Community Legal Services may now insure through Lawcover
Lawcover now offers an approved professional indemnity insurance policy for community legal services operating in NSW and registered with the Law Society. The policy offers the same broad coverage offered to private law practices, including run off cover. Community legal services do not need to apply for an exemption from holding an approved insurance policy if insured with Lawcover.
