COVID data
|
NSW recorded no new cases of locally acquired COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night. Four cases were reported in overseas travellers in hotel quarantine. Two previously reported cases, one locally acquired and one acquired overseas, have been excluded following further investigations. The total number of cases in NSW since the start of the pandemic remains at 4,435. While testing numbers have increased, NSW Health is urging more people to come forward for testing, especially with restrictions easing and borders reopening. NSW is encouraging residents in the south-western Sydney area to come forward for testing after traces of COVID-19 were discovered in sewerage. More details here.

In the UK, frontline health workers and the elderly have begun rolling up their sleeves to receive the coronavirus vaccine. In Australia, the National Cabinet endorsed the Federal Government’s COVID-19 vaccination policy last month. The Federal Government opted to buy 10 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine from overseas in the event it is successful. As well as the Pfizer deal, Australia has arrangements with Novavax, the University of Queensland and Oxford University/AstraZeneca. The Australia COVID-19 vaccination policy can be viewed here.
