The legal community will miss Judge Zahra

I, like many of you, was shocked and saddened to hear of the recent passing of Peter Zahra, one of this State’s most senior and respected District Court judges. Judge Zahra presided over some of this State’s most high-profile cases, including that of Robert Hughes and Katherine Folbigg. Message from the Trust Accounts Department to those effected by the recent floods
The 2022 Law Practice Confirmation and Statement of Trust Money submission period has now commenced.

Law Practices that have held or received trust money (other than PEXA power money, written direction money or transit money) during the period 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2022 must complete the Part B Statement of Trust Money and have an External Examiner’s Report completed by a designated External Examiner. New online Unfair Dismissal forms
The Commission is pleased to announce that the process of moving to online filing of documents has commenced. Read more.  

State Revenue and Fines Legislation Amendment (Miscellaneous) Bill 2022
The Bill was passed by Parliament on 11 May and is awaiting assent.  The Bill amends key legislation including the Duties Act 1997, Land Tax Act 1956 and the Taxation Administration Act 1996. For further information see here. Revenue NSW advises that a Technical Guide will be available on the Revenue NSW website once the Bill receives assent.

Biodiversity Values Map and Biocertification
The NSW Department of Planning and Environment has published a new fact sheet for practitioners providing information on how the Biodiversity Values Map and Biodiversity Certification can affect the future development of land. Read more.
