This award recognises a public sector solicitor, who has performed above and beyond their usual responsibilities.
It recognises excellence in practice, as well as innovation, ethical conduct and the role of mentorship. This award was formally known as the Michelle Crowther Award, recognising the service of Ms Crowther at Legal Aid.

Assessment Criteria
- How does the nominee demonstrate excellence in practice, going above and beyond their usual responsibilities. (50 per cent)
- In what way does the nominee actively demonstrate innovation and ethical conduct in their role, and how has this has positively impacted their team or department. (25 per cent)
- How does the nominee set an example of what an exceptional government solicitor looks like, including their personal impact on public sector culture, mentoring other solicitors, and commitment to service. (25 per cent)
Eligibility
Nominations for this award are open to individuals who:
- are NSW public sector solicitors; and
- hold a current NSW practising certificate; and
- are members of The Law Society of NSW
Judging Panel
This award will be judged by the Law Society of NSW Government Solicitors Committee.
