Mental Health and Wellness in the Law:
How to remain calm during change
Christopher Paterson
Business Advisor and Executive Coach
October is Mental Health Month, and the Law Society of NSW wishes to recognise the commitment to mental health and compassionate leadership of the late Charles Richard Xuereb (1955-2018). We continue to dedicate Mental Health Month and this month’s Staying Well in the Law series to Charles.
In this session, Christopher Paterson will present practical strategies for maintaining mental health and wellbeing in and out of the workplace, highlighting the neurological research around stress and pressure and how lawyers can build emotional resilience and remain calm in the face of stress.
With a background in business psychology, Christopher will outline the neurological and behavioural variables that facilitate sustained success and the barriers that get in our way, as well as how to remain calm through change and transitions. With more than 27 years’ experience consulting and business coaching in Australian, European, US and Asian markets across industries including law and professional services, he is the managing partner and board member of International consulting group Stephen Mansell Group.
Christopher asserts that calm leaders lead calm teams, and he will be sharing these mindfulness tips and how leaders who can remember to breathe and stay calm create the optimal environment.
