FLIP Regional Roadshow announced; plus International Women's Day celebration
Last week’s opinion piece in The Australian by Professor Michael Legg, Director of the Law Society’s FLIP Stream research project at UNSW Law, and Research Fellow, Felicity Bell, highlighted some of the regulatory and ethical uncertainty solicitors are facing as a result of the innovation and technological changes sweeping the legal profession. As part of our commitment to helping solicitors embrace the challenges and opportunities technology presents in the legal space, the Law Society is taking its Future of Law and Innovation in the Profession (FLIP) program to four regional locations in 2019, starting in Newcastle on 15 March and then moving onto Byron Bay, Wollongong and Dubbo. Law Society of New South Wales Professional Standards Scheme
The Law Society of New South Wales Professional Standards Scheme (the Scheme) operates on a 'one-in, all-in basis'. This means that for a law practice to gain the full benefit of the Scheme and comply with the disclosure requirements under the Professional Standards Act 1994 (NSW), all solicitors within the law practice must be participants of the Scheme.
It is the responsibility of a law practice participating in the Scheme to ensure any new practitioner joining the law practice is added as a Scheme participant. This is done by obtaining Law Society membership if they have not already done so and completing an online Scheme application or a hard copy Additional Scheme Participants form, which can be accessed here. Please send the completed Additional Scheme Participants form to the Scheme Administration Team at the Law Society.
