Providing our members access to an extensive range of interactive CPD seminars and courses |
One of the tangible benefits of being a member of the Law Society is having access to an extensive range of interactive Continuing Professional Development (CPD) seminars and courses through the Society’s online LawInform portal.
With the 31 March 2021 deadline for CPD requirements looming, you will be pleased to know we still have 25 plus live CPD sessions scheduled before the end of March and hundreds more on-demand courses and sessions available online. Created by the profession and for the profession, our CPD offering is one of the largest in Australia, covering all mandatory knowledge areas as well as an extensive range of substantive law updates in specific practice areas.
Law Society members are also eligible for a 30 per cent discount on all CPD offerings (except the Practice Management Course).
And don’t forget that due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, for this current CPD period, the Society is not enforcing the five-unit cap on the private study of audio/visual material as set out in the Legal Profession Uniform Continuing Professional Development (Solicitors) Rules 2015 (CPD rules).
Another fantastic addition to the Law Society’s LawInform program is the Blended Mental Health First Aid (MFHA) for the Australian Legal Profession course. We’ve done a lot in the past 12 months to expand our suite of mental health and wellbeing support services for solicitors, most recently with the launch of our Solicitor Outreach Service (SOS). This is another important element of our support.
Mental health first aid refers to the support provided before professional help is received. This may be when a person first develops a mental health problem, is experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem or is in crisis. However, many of us don’t feel comfortable or equipped to start a conversation when we think a friend or work colleague may be struggling. This course teaches participants how to recognise the signs and symptoms of mental health problems and crises and how to respond and offer support.
Participants who complete this training are eligible to complete an online Accreditation Assessment to become an Accredited Mental Health First Aider. While the March and April MFHA courses have already sold out, keep an eye on the LawInform portal, as we are about to open bookings for the June and July courses.
