Digital Contract Services coming soon
|
The Electronic Contract for Sales (ECOS) will be replaced with the Digital Contracts Service (DCS) in early 2022. This new system aims to improve and facilitate your experience purchasing and accessing contracts for sale of land and contracts for sale of business. NSW COVID-19 statistics
|
NSW recorded 208 new cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night from 61,132 tests. Zero deaths were recorded in the same time period. NSW Health said today that 94.6 per cent of people aged 16 and over have had one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 92.8 per cent of people aged 16 and over have had two doses

Land and Environment Court update
|
The COVID-19 Pandemic Arrangements Policy has been replaced by a new Policy effective from1 December 2021. The revised Policy sets out arrangements consistent with current NSW Government requirements and is also available on the LEC website here.

Supreme Court holiday period arrangements
|
The Supreme Court’s registry public counter has reopened and will be operating from 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday until Friday, 17 December 2021. The attached summary outlines arrangements for the Court and registry during the law vacation period (Monday, 20 December 2021 – Friday, 28 January 2022).

TGA provisionally approves Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for 5 to 11-year-olds
|
The Therapeutic Goods Administration has provisionally approved the Pfizer vaccine as safe and effective for use among 5 to 11-year-old children in Australia. Subject to final considerations and recommendations from the vaccination experts on the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI), and other related approvals, the Australian Government will start rolling out the Pfizer vaccine to 5 to 11-year-olds from 10 January 2022. 2022 Land Tax Information, early assessments and clearance certificates
Revenue NSW has published information regarding thresholds and land tax rates for 2022. Land Tax Notice of Assessments for 2022 will be sent from Wednesday 5 January 2022 onwards. Early Issue Notice of Assessments for 2022 can be requested in certain circumstances. Section 47 clearance certificates for early January 2022 settlements can be requested from 13 December 2021. New Community Land laws 1 December 2021 and LRS forms
NSW LRS will continue to accept dealings and plans dated before 1 December 2021 on the old forms. Where the dealing or plan was not signed or dated before 1 December 2021, the revised forms and requirements of the new legislation apply. Read more.

Residential Apartment Buildings (Compliance and Enforcement Powers) Act orders register
This register, published by NSW Fair Trading, records stop work orders, prohibition orders, building work orders and enforceable undertakings issued by the Building Commissioner under the Residential Apartment Buildings (Compliance and Enforcement Powers) Act 2020.

Electronic witnessing provisions
The Electronic Transactions Amendment (Remote Witnessing) Bill 2021 (NSW) received Assent and commenced on 29 November 2021. The amending legislation:
- Provides that the electronic witnessing provisions in Part 2B of the Electronic Transactions Act 2000 operate indefinitely.
- Clarifies, in the context of electronic witnessing, the meaning of ‘original document’, the document’s place of execution, and the law applicable to documents executed outside of NSW.
- Amends the Oaths Act 1900 so that oaths, affidavits and statutory declarations may be made before Australian legal practitioners. Statutory declarations may be made before persons authorised to receive statutory declarations under the Statutory Declarations Act 1959 (Cth) (this amendment expires 1 January 2023).
