The Law Society of New South Wales will be closed from Thursday 24 December 2020 through to Friday 8 January 2021.

During this period the Law Society will be operating with a skeleton staff who will be servicing specific licensing functions. The Law Society’s Phillip Street building and most of our services to the profession and public however will be closed, including reception, library and research services, regulatory compliance and costs support lines, our mediation and arbitration facilities, visiting solicitor meeting rooms, and the Community Referral Service.Community Referral Service.

During the Christmas to New Year period, the Law Society will be monitoring the voicemail and inbox of the ethics assistance line, and messages will be returned as soon as possible. Non-urgent messages may not be responded to until 11 January 2021.

The Solicitor Outreach Service (SOS) will also continue to operate during this period. SOS is a confidential psychological counselling service for NSW solicitors, delivered by third-party provider PeopleSense by Altius.

If you believe it is likely you will require regulatory assistance or any other support from the Law Society during this time, we would encourage you to contact us prior to 24 December 2020 so that we may endeavour to meet your needs.
