Rural, regional & remote vacancies

The Law Society of NSW is committed to strengthening professional support for practitioners working in rural, regional and remote areas of New South Wales and to increasing access to justice for socially and economically disadvantaged people.

As part of that commitment the Society is working with NSW legal agencies through the NSW Legal Assistance Forum to inform practitioners about the opportunities that are available in non metropolitan and outer metropolitan areas.


Solicitor Grade IV, Family Law, Dubbo

This permanent position in Family Law with Legal Aid offers a package to $117,000.

Responsibilities

Provide high quality legal advice and representation to Commission clients, including in more complex matters, in accordance with the Commission’s policies and guidelines. Supervise legal staff. Capacity to travel.

Selection Criteria

Legal qualifications and a current NSW Practising Certificate.

Sound knowledge of and demonstrated experience in conducting a family law practice and knowledge of the care and protection jurisdiction.

Demonstrated ability to represent legal aid clients in family law matters and undertake an advocacy role before the Court.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills.

Proven capacity to identify and understand legal and cultural issues facing socially and economically disadvantaged people.

Demonstrated ability to supervise and train legal staff and capacity to implement service delivery goals.

Ability to meet deadlines, work without close supervision and to manage a diverse workload.

Class C Driver’s Licence, as required, and willingness to travel to, and conduct outreach services at more distant courts within the wider region.
