Solicitor – Claims & Legal Services (NSW)

About the role:

A great opportunity exists to join a growing Claims & Legal team and make a difference.

As a Solicitor working under the supervision of the Senior Solicitor you will be responsible for providing legal advice to clients and managing a portfolio of claims and notified incidents.

MIGA is seeking someone with a Degree in Bachelor of Laws and proven legal experience within a law firm or insurance company specialising in personal injury preferably with exposure to medical indemnity or professional indemnity matters. Experience in public liability and motor vehicle bodily injury will also be highly regarded.

The successful candidate will be required to hold and maintain Tier 2 education level as per ASIC PS 146 Licensing: Training of financial product advisors. If the successful candidate does not hold a Tier 2 level, MIGA will assist them in obtaining the qualification.

About the role:

Our Legal Services Department delivers high-quality, in-house legal advice and services to enable the efficient and effective delivery of Screen Australia’s funding programs.

As a Senior Lawyer, you will use your strong commercial legal skills to draft and negotiate film and TV production agreements and related transaction documents. You will be responsible for advice on copyright law, chain of title, finance agreements, sales and distribution agreements and completion guarantees. You will use your high level advice writing skills to support effective decision making on statutory interpretation, compliance, FOI, Privacy and other legal matters relevant to Screen Australia’s operations.

About the role:

Sensational opportunity for a dispute resolution lawyer to join a specialist group, in a highly respected mid-tier law firm.

If successful in your application, you will work with a highly experienced partner to run the dispute resolution side of a Sydney CBD specialist group handling a diverse range of business, regulatory, fiduciary, corporate, specialist and estate matters. You will enjoy exceptional client exposure, and benefit from a vibrant and friendly workplace culture and real life/work balance. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years PAE experience in commercial list or equity division litigation and with:

• outstanding technical knowledge and skills (preferably including analysis of evidence in digital form);

• solid experience in drafting pleadings, affidavits and correspondence, with a deep familiarity with the rules of evidence and of the courts;

• strong advocacy and organisation skills; 

• real strategic and commercial insight; and

• a second degree in Commerce, Science, Engineering or IT.
