What we do
From statutory obligations to representative functions, the Law Society's responsibilities are numerous, as are the interests we seek to serve.
We strive to uphold the guiding principles expressed in our vision and mission statements. Our initiatives are focused on the following areas.
Organisation & Structure
Due to the Law Society’s dual representative and regulatory functions, our organisation is structured in order to maintain an authoritative presence and at the same time foster consultation and collaboration with, and between, the profession, lawmakers and the public.
Career Opportunities
Working at the Law Society of NSW offers the chance to be surrounded by motivated and passionate individuals from diverse backgrounds, who are all seeking to make a difference. View our current vacancies now.
Law Committees
Law Society Committees have powers, authorities and tasks delegated by the Council. Consisting of dedicated volunteers, each committee focuses on a particular area of law, pooling together specialist skills and experience in order to scrutinise legislation, Court decisions and other government policies.
Law Society Initiatives
As the representative of solicitors in NSW, the Law Society speaks on behalf of the legal profession, and advocates for changes to the law that benefit the entire community.
This section provides information about the main avenues through which we do this, and highlights our significant advocacy projects.
