LS Scheme Renewals

From Friday 4 November 2016, an online system allowing law practices to renew their participation in the Law Society Scheme for 2017 (commonly known as Limitation of Liability Scheme) will be available for those participants who do not seek a higher discretionary cap under the Scheme.

The new Scheme Renewal website is streamlined and simplified to fast-track the renewal process. All law practices that have registered a Scheme Co-ordinator with the Law Society, and all sole practitioners who have been automatically nominated as the Scheme Coordinator for their practice, have received details of their secured username which will give them access to the system.

It is important that all legal practitioner details for your practice are correct and that all legal practitioners in your law practice are current solicitor members or life members of the Law Society. If these details are not up-to-date, you will be unable to complete the online renewal. Please contact the Law Society Registry by phone on 9926 0156 or by email at registry@lawsociety.com.au with any changes that are needed. Once any changes have been processed, usually within 48 hours, your law practice Scheme Co-ordinator can sign on to the Scheme Renewal website and renew.

Please carefully read the Checklist on the renewals page or refer to the Scheme Renewal user guide to ensure that you have all documents ready for uploading that may be required for the online renewals process.

Payment for renewals can be made online by credit card or if preferred, by cheque. A remittance advice will be emailed to the practice if cheque payment is selected.

Please click here for the Scheme Renewal user guide which contains everything the Scheme Co-ordinator needs to know about how to process the renewal online.
